I grew up on the lakes of northern Michigan and studied Creative Writing at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, MI. I spent a semester abroad at Kingston University in London, England before receiving my B. In 2011, I moved to California to study at San Francisco State University, where I received my M. in English Literature in 2014.

Hiking Battle Mountain off the San Diego Beaten Path. During a visit to San Diego I stayed in Rancho Bernardo on the north end of town and looked for ways to spend some time outdoors, while also venturing off the beaten path. I wound up doing this climb just after dawn on an overcast morning. The hike, well almost run, down the hill took only a matter of minutes. It was a great morning in the Rancho Bernardo part of San Diego .
